“I will have lived at The Deanery three years in April. I decided to relocate and move into a care home because I lived in Cornwall and it was too far for my family to travel to see me. My son looked at a lot of different homes on my behalf and chose The Deanery because of its location and the overall feel of the home. What I like best about The Deanery is that the care staff are marvellous to me.”

Resident - at The Deanery

“I have lived at The Deanery for 11 years. After losing my husband I was unable to live by myself and I couldn’t live with my son as I couldn’t cope with stairs, so coming into a care home was the best choice for me. I chose The Deanery because I lived locally and I had always heard good things about it. It was highly recommended by lots of people, and when I came to visit I liked the homely feel of the home. What I like best about the Deanery is that the care staff are amazing and actually care, and the grounds are beautiful in the summer.”

Resident - at The New Deanery

“I have lived at The Deanery for 16 months. I was unable to look after myself so it was the smart decision to come into a care home. I chose The Deanery because I was a local resident so I knew it would be easy for my friends and family to visit me. I like the security of having people here when I need them. The Deanery also has a homely feel about it: nothing compares to being in your own home, but this is definitely second best.”

Resident - The New Deanery

“My husband has been in the home for over a year. I find the staff very cheerful and helpful. He is always well cared for and appreciates everything they do for him.

I suggested they carry out some outings, which they have done and Philip to date has been out twice which he has thoroughly enjoyed. It is so nice to be able to sit in the Bistro, have free cups of tea and interact with other people. I thank all the staff for the care they are giving my husband and their cheerfulness.”

Mrs G Newman - Wife of resident Philip Newman

“We really appreciated the thoughtful way in which Christmas presents were bought for the residents. My mother, aged 99, still does crosswords and plays Scrabble so was very pleased with her crossword book. She also follows national and international news and really liked her book on London which was full of memorable pictures.

My mother has been a resident at The Deanery for over seven years. All staff have always been kind and caring … and I have absolute confidence that my mother is well cared for here and my mind is at rest when I leave her after visiting.”
